Ladybrand accident leaves three injured

A taxi and a bakkie collided head on, on the R26 a short distance outside of Ladybrand towards Clocolan. Paramedics found the bakkie still in the road, while the taxi had come to rest in the roadside veld, but still on its wheels.

The driver of the taxi was badly injured and trapped in the wreckage, he would need assistance to be removed and local Fire and Rescue services got to work. The woman passenger in the taxi was also quite severely injured but in a stable condition. The two had been the only occupants of the taxi at the time of the collision. In the bakkie had also been two occupants. The driver did not appear to want to go to hospital as he had sustained only minor injuries. The woman sitting in the passenger seat was taken to Pelonomi Hospital in Bloemfontein for further care.

The cause of the collision is not yet known and will be investigated by the relevant authorities.
