Pedestrian killed on the N8

A pedestrian has been killed and a motorcyclist serious injured after an accident on the Old Kimberley Road (N8) between Bloemfontein and Dealesville this evening.
The motorcyclist, a man in his 50`s, was allegedly on his way to Kimberley when he crashed into the pedestrian approximately 20 kilometers outside of Bloemfontein. The pedestrian had suffered multiple injuries and he sadly died at the scene. There was nothing further that paramedics could do for the man and he was declared deceased.
The motorbike was found crushed up against a tree. It is believed that the man was flung from the bike after it crashed through a fence around the field at the roadside, and the man was found lying in the field.
Paramedics assessed the man and found that he had sustained serious injuries to his face as well as possible serious neck injuries. He was treated on scene for multiple other soft tissue injuries  as well before he was loaded into the waiting ambulance and then transported to Life Rosepark Hospital for further care.
